Butterfly Frappe

I am very pleased with how the little wreath turned out.  Approx. 19" square.
Here's a close-up of the final embellishments.  Yes, there are a few pieces of zipper mixed in!
Here's a reminder of where this challenge started - a fat quarter of this lovely Kona Bay Fabrics butterfly print.  I chopped it to pieces, hence the name "Butterfly Frappe".

Stuck

I have my little wreath quilt almost finished, except for the embellishments, and I am STUCK!  I made a few yo-yo's, then I found some nice primary colored buttons .... and even a nice red ribbon.  But I don't know how to pull it all together.  Ceresy suggested layering some of the buttons on top of yo-yo's and maybe meandering the ribbon under the yo-yo's and buttons.  Any ideas?
Maybe I just need to put the wreath aside for a while.  I almost forgot about the PELICAN!  I could work on him!
Or, I could finish sewing the corners on the latest phone book blocks and get them trimmed.

Not My Quilt and More

I've got a fabulous APPLE CORE quilt to share today!
It's approx. 60" square and was made by my very good friend, Mary Miller, a talented quilter who makes all kinds of quilts from art quilts to traditional.  And she sews at the speed of light, which often frustrates me!

For a while now, Mary has been fascinated by apple core quilts.  She has hand pieced and hand quilted between 10 and 12 lap size apple core quilts.  When I got a larger size apple core template (6") in at the shop, she decided to try it out and this is the result.  All of the fabrics are Asian prints, most probably from Kona Bay Fabrics.  I donated a few swatches, but most of it came from Mary's wonder stash.  If you would like to see more of her work, check out her FACEBOOK page Aunt Mary's Quilts.

In other fabric news, Ruth, Sally and I spent a little more time with the fabric paints last week.  My new favorite method is the scrunching method.  This is a super close-up of the fabric as it was drying.
Here it is, dry and pressed flat.

True confessions time.  I already have a new string quilt in the works, since I did the demo at the guilt guild two weeks ago.  THEN, I was browsing through blogs the other day and saw another fabulous idea that I can't wait to try.  All I will tell you at this point is that it involves diamonds!

A Little Something

Sorry, not much seems to be going on this week.  My sister-in-law sent me some cute blocks that she made on her embroidery machine, so I added fabric and batting and made two pot holders.
Understand that these are not pot holders to be USED.  I'm going to hang them on the kitchen wall.  She knows that I especially like kitties and turtles.
